Custom workflows

Your process. Your fields. Your label.

Not every kitchen runs the same way. Dill lets you build a labelling workflow around how your team actually works — with the input fields, rules and printed output your operation needs.

Labels that carry whatever your operation needs to know

Most labelling tools hand you a fixed template and expect you to bend your process around it. Dill works the other way round. We configure the input fields — allergens, table numbers, staff names, batch codes, use-by logic, anything — so the label that comes out matches how your site actually operates. Tell us the information that has to travel with the food, and we build the workflow that captures it and prints it.

Worked example — Busaba

Allergen-aware service, from the table to the tray

Busaba, the Thai restaurant group, uses a custom Dill workflow to keep allergen information with each guest's dish all the way through service. When a guest names an allergen, it's captured at the table and follows the order into the kitchen and onto the tray — so the right plate reaches the right person.

  1. 01

    At the table

The server logs each guest's allergens on the handheld as they order. Table 12, Seat 2: no peanuts, no shellfish. It takes seconds and it travels with the order.

  2. 02

    In the kitchen

The ticket lands on the kitchen screen with the allergens flagged against that exact dish, so the chef can see what to leave out before the wok is even hot.

  3. 03

    On the tray

Dill prints a tray label the moment the dish is plated: the dish, the seat, the allergens to avoid and the manager on duty. It rides with the plate to the right guest.

How a custom workflow comes together

01

We map your process. We sit with your team and work out what information has to move with each item, and where it gets captured.

02

We configure the input fields. Allergens, table or order numbers, prep and use-by logic, staff and manager names, batch codes — whatever your workflow needs.

03

We set the rules. Fields can be required, auto-filled or driven by earlier choices, so staff can't skip a step or print something incomplete.

04

Your team prints. Front-of-house, kitchen or production staff trigger the label from the Dill app, and the right information prints every time.

Built on the same platform as the rest of Dill

A custom workflow isn't a bolt-on. It runs on the same platform as your allergen, prep and stock labels — so it inherits central control, instant updates across every site and a full record of what was printed.

  • Configurable input fields — text, dates, dropdowns, allergen pickers and more
  • Rules and validation, so an incomplete label can't be printed
  • Central control — update the workflow once, every site gets it instantly
  • Works with your existing Brother printers and the Dill app
  • Every print recorded, so you always have an audit trail
